The Summer of gaming is very much underway, and we have been treated to plenty of new reveals and additional trailers for some of the biggest games launching in the latter half of 2026. It can be hard to keep up with all the announcements and upcoming dates, especially when the year is as stacked as it is, but even though things may feel overwhelming, this fall is guaranteed to be one hell of a gaming season. Call of Duty, GTA, and Silent Hill will dominate Fall 2026.
The list of names sounds absurd on paper, with so many seasoned franchises receiving major sequels and plenty of new faces stepping up to the plate, yet despite how crazy the lineup is, there are only a few short months between now and the whole set being released into the wild. Regardless of whether you are an FPS fan or a racing lover, there is bound to be at least one game for you to wishlist and start getting excited for.
Fit the 9 games into the grid.
Marvel's Wolverine
Trading Webs For Pure Adrenaline

Details:
- Release Date: September 15th (PS5 exclusive)
- Explosive combat with a more linear structure
Wolverine is Insomniac's next big Marvel project, looking to trade the playful energy of Spider-Man for the grittier, morebrutal personality of the adamantium beast himself. You get to step into a completely new story within the mutant world, one that will have you clawing away at enemies in all manner of locations, from Tokyo to Canada, all in the name of survival.
The biggest difference between this game and many other Marvel game projects is its more linear, focused scope. The gameplay takes you through many more controlled set pieces that empower the action rather than restrict it, and I, for one, am excited to experience a less broad journey that is more interested in constant pace than large, open playing fields.
Valor Mortis
First-Person Soulslike Goodness

Details:
- Release Date: 24th September
- Brutal melee combat
Valor Mortis comes from the developers of Ghostrunner, and rather than being another lightning-fast action game, the focus is more on atmosphere and methodical combat. Playing as a soldier during the Napoleonic era, you get to witness the atrocities of war first-hand, equipped with a sword, a gun, and a range of special abilities that bring a supernatural edge to an already unnatural world.
Described as a first-person soulslike, the combat certainly looks and feels more rhythmic and calculated than other RPGs, with the demo giving you a glimpse of the game's style and rhythm long before launch. I am a big fan of the dev team, and from what I have played so far, it is for sure a day-one purchase that I will likely struggle to put down.
Control Resonant
Bending Every Inch Of Reality

Details:
- Release Date: September 24th
- Mind-blowing set-pieces and locations
Remedy has come out with quite a few bangers over the past few years, and CONTROL Resonant is looking to be yet another name to add to that list. Moving away from the story of the first game, we get to experience a different perspective in the same universe, playing as Dylan Faden in the world outside the Oldest House that appears even more distorted than the one within.
The combat has also changed a bunch, taking a more melee-oriented route that brings with it heavier blows and more chances to demolish enemies up close and personal. I think the biggest standout has to be the setting, as while the original had plenty of incredible shots and moments, the locations here look beyond extravagant, and I am dying to explore them in all their glory.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Can The Capcom Streak Last Forever?

Details:
- Release Date: September 25th
- Challenging yet satisfying swordfights
It has been quite some time since we saw an Onimusha game, but the wait may have been more than worth it. Modernized visuals, gameplay, and story all combine to deliver an ARPG experience that is much closer to a hack-and-slash than a soulslike, thanks to the faster combat and emphasis on combos and ability usage.
The power comes from an Oni gauntlet that you get to wield and use against a wide range of enemies, from skilled swordsmen to giant, lumbering ogres, each with a new challenge that requires patience and timing to overcome. The gameplay alone has me hooked, but I think world-building is going to be a big deal in setting it apart from the competition, taking notes from all parts of Japanese folklore to create a distinctive feel that should be unlike any other in the genre.
SILENT HILL: Townfall
The Mist Continues To Spread

Details:
- Release Date: 24th September
- A new location with a whole new set of horrors
SILENT HILL: Townfall is yet another brand-new game in the iconic horror franchise that is stepping into a very different setting, whilst still keeping the eerie mist in full view. An abandoned island town full of mysteries and unanswered questions, your main tools to survive will be your senses and a handy CRTV that can pick up on minute details that may be the difference between life and death.
I am mainly interested in the first-person perspective, as much like RE7, it feels like a reinvention of an existing formula that may well prove to be just as good, if not better, than the original. But, even with these changes and a new environment to explore, you will still have to contend with the same old nail-biting tension that will inevitably be broken by an enemy charging your way.
Phantom Blade Zero
Fighting Till Your Final Days

Details:
- Release Date: October 29th
- Heavy focus on different styles of martial arts
Phantom Blade Zero is probably at the top of many people's wishlists for 2026, and it has earned that spot for good reason. Yes, it is another ARPG from Eastern Asia, but the presentation is much darker and more brutal, aided primarily by the unique narrative that follows a warrior in his quest to fend off death.
When it comes to the gameplay, they could have played it safe and gone for a standard soulslike or basic RPG style, but instead, the developers opted for a faithful homage to Wuxia fighting styles that are bolstered by an arsenal of unique weapons, each with their own style that can be used to adapt to each situation. Hyped doesn't even begin to describe my feelings, and despite being delayed slightly, I would much prefer a few extra weeks of polish so we can really experience the height of what the game has to offer.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
The King Of FPSs For A Reason

Details:
- Release Date: 23rd October
- Set during a war between North Korea and the rest of the world
Number jokes and repetition aside, Modern Warfare actually looks like a pretty interesting COD game that might actually usher in a new wave of excitement for the franchise. The conflict is global, taking place in Korea, Paris, Mumbai, and more, but the classic FPS gameplay remains mostly intact, albeit in a darker, more intense form than previous entries.
Alongside a whole new campaign and a classic multiplayer gameplay style, we are also going to get to play DMZ once again, a separate extraction-style mode that requires far more strategy and game sense for those looking to come out on top. I have been a bit distant from the more recent CODs, but MW4 looks pretty damn interesting and may be just what I and many others needed to get back on the iconic FPS bandwagon.
STAR WARS: Galactic Racer
Now This Is Pod Racing

Details:
- Release Date: 6th October
- Cinematic races, both online and in the story
If Forza Horizon 6 wasn't your cup of tea, then maybe it's time to enter a time long, long ago with STAR WARS: Galactic Racer. In a post-Empire galaxy, a league of racing has been created, full of hungry drivers and steep competition that offers glory to the victors and certain death to the losers.
Not only do we get to charge across various planets against other players, but there is also a dedicated story that adds a nice backstory to the experience that many other racing games struggle to nail. If you are someone who has just picked up a new wheel or are just a big STAR WARS fan, then this new entry feels like the ideal place to capture some of the less explored areas of the franchise and to prove just how good a driver you really are.
Ace Combat 8: Wings Of Theve
Taking To The Skies Once More

Details:
- Release Date: 2nd October
- Breathtaking aerial gameplay
Ace Combat 8: Wings Of Theve takes the action into the clouds, presenting you with an array of breathtaking sky-bound fights that look like something straight out of a movie. The key point comes from the relationship between the air and ground, as while flying around is all well and good, you will still need to form important connections and make tough choices when standing on your own two feet.
If the campaign wasn't enough, there are also chances to play online with other pilots, adding an extra level of excitement to those crazy dogfights. I have followed the series for a while and am delighted to see a brand-new installment with a greater focus on spectacle and to have more chances to fly alongside my friends online.
Grand Theft Auto 6
The Wait Is Almost Over

Details:
- Release Date: 19th November (PS5/Xbox Series)
- Dual protagonists in a fresh new world
Assuming it doesn't get a last-minute delay again, you might finally get to play GTA6 in 2026. A Bonnie and Clyde-style story that brings with it the franchise's first female protagonist, Lucia, and her partner in crime, Jason, we are going to explore a vibrant, Florida-inspired city that should look and feel as close to reality as humanly possible.
The development time and costs for this game are absurd, and with a name as big as Rockstar at the helm, it is very clear we are in for a generational experience that may well eclipse the entire gaming industry for years to come. I, among others, will be rushing through the doors the first chance I can, and if you are a gamer, even in the slightest bit, you owe it to yourself to get excited as well.
