1999 was a time to be alive as it marked the premiere of Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace. The marketing blitz was huge, from video games to toys to collectible Pepsi cans. There was no escaping it. Kids who grew up during the prequel saga have a nostalgia for it that the original trilogy fans don’t have. That is to say, they are more forgiving of the prequels.

Star Wars: Republic Commando
A Brotherly Squad Shooter
Star Wars: Republic Commando, at the time, felt like an attempt to make a Halo game crossed with a Tom Clancy game, and it was originally an Xbox exclusive. Today, it’s widely available on most platforms in an HD format. Versions aside, the game opens with a bombastic battle on Geonosis just as soon as the Clone Wars begin during the events of Star Wars: Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones. After completing the opening mission, the game truly kicks off with players assuming control of Delta Squad, an elite group of four Clone Troopers who go on special operations.
Players will get one gun on their playthrough, but by finding mods in levels, they can turn it into different guns, like going from a machine gun to a sniper rifle. With their squad, players can assign them tasks like taking over a turret, or setting a blast charge on a wall to breech, plus if players fall in battle, there’s a chance their Delta Squad brother will revive them. For a Star Wars first-person shooter with some squad-based tactics, Star Wars: Republic Commando is more than efficient.

Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection includes Star Wars: Battlefront and Star Wars: Battlefront 2, the original games. Both games feature locations and factions from the prequel trilogy, either in the campaigns or in the extra modes, largely taking place during the Clone Wars. No matter the mode, the gameplay setup is simple. On a mission, players will assume control of a generic soldier, like a Clone Trooper, and each will have a distinct class, from an engineer to a heavy gunner.
6 Star Wars Games With The Best Stories, Ranked
There have been many Star Wars games. Some good, some bad, and some with exceptional storytelling.
When that hero falls in battle, it will drop the overall moral level. Once players lose too many soldiers, the other faction will claim victory. By capturing points on maps, players can reduce morale and the number of their enemies. If players are doing well, they can take control of a powerful character for a limited time, like Ki-Adi Mundi. In third-person or first-person, this capture the flag-like design to missions is still a lot of fun, whether that includes fighting as Clone Troopers or even playing various droids in the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
Disney Infinity 3.0
A Collection Of Star Wars Playsets
Disney Infinity 3.0 is the third and final entry in the series, and along with new Disney and Marvel characters and playsets, the biggest new addition to the franchise was Star Wars. The launch edition came with Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano figures, along with a playset that took place during the Clone Wars saga. A playset was essentially a self-contained campaign that players could use the core characters in or others that were viable. Besides playsets, there was also a free-roam mode and a way to build levels that every character could hang around in.
Whether in campaigns or free mode, characters could level up and had a skill tree that boosted stats or granted skills. The Anakin and Ahsoka playset is the only one that took place in the prequel era, but there were prequel characters players could buy, including Darth Maul, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, among others. Whether alone or in co-op, Disney Infinity 3.0 is a great way for Star Wars fans to live out their fantasies, plus it’s just a great Disney game.
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter
Not Quite Boba Fett, But Jango Will Do
- Developer(s)
- LucasArts
- Platform(s)
- Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Steam
Ever since Boba Fett appeared in Star Wars: Episode 5 - The Empire Strikes Back, video game fans have been dreaming about a bounty hunter game starring him. That almost happened with Star Wars 1313 before it was canceled, so Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is the next best thing. Instead of Boba Fett, players assume the role of his father, Jango, and the game is divided into a series of linear missions, although there is some freedom on hunts. Each mission has a goal bounty in mind, but with a scanner, players can check if random enemies also have a bounty on their heads.
If they do, players can lasso them for capture. The shooting isn’t the greatest, but thanks to a lock-on mechanic, it is serviceable, along with the platforming sections. Armed with plenty of gadgets and some cool set pieces and locations featured from the prequel trilogy, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is not half bad. It may not be the dream bounty hunting game, but it can be found on most platforms thanks to an HD version.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
Fun For The Whole Family
- Developer(s)
- Traveller's Tales
- Platform(s)
- Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S
Of the prequel era, one game stood high above the rest: LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game, which was the first truly great video game based on LEGO. Decades later, this original experience was remade via LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which also went through all nine core films and then some. So if players want to experience the entire prequel trilogy in LEGO form, this game is a great one to get, plus it has co-op.
Star Wars Games With The Most Planets
There are a lot of great Star Wars games out there that let players explore a multitude of planets.
In each film, there are several episodes that go through the movie’s plot. Players can swap between characters who each have certain skills, like Jedi are good enforcers who can deflect lasers, while droids can hack things. There are puzzles to solve, but the remake focuses on action more than anything else. Plus, the humor is top-notch, so anyone wishing to relive the entire prequel trilogy need not look any further.
Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles
A Decent Lightsaber Brawler
Among the many PS1 Star Wars games of the prequel era, there are a lot of players who have warm feelings of nostalgia with Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles. It returned in 2025 with a remaster, albeit with not a lot done to its core concept. It is a two-player game, if players wish, and the character variety is great from the start. There are good Jedi like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Mace Windu, dark Jedi like Darth Maul, and strange entries like a Battle Droid.
The missions loosely follow the plot of the first prequel film, but as heroes can be anyone, it’s far from the point of the game. At its core, Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles is an old-school brawler from the PS1 era, just with lightsabers, blasters, and Force powers. It’s short, simple, and should suffice for a fun afternoon with a friend.
