Hulu is one of the streaming services with the largest anime library. Its subscribers enjoy a huge selection of series and a massive volume of shonen anime. Choosing what to watch isn't always easy, so we're going to help you by listing the best ones available on this platform.
As you'll see, Hulu has some of the best shonen anime on the market, so you'll have no problem making the most of your subscription. Take note, because Hulu is one of the best streaming platforms for watching anime.
20 Jujutsu Kaisen
One of the best shonen anime of recent years. After Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Jujutsu Kaisen was the anime that in recent years reached the highest level of popularity among fans of action and good stories.
This anime tells the story of Yuji Itadori, who transforms into the host of a terrifying villain after swallowing one of his fingers. All eyes will be on him after this incident, and for him, it will mean having to join a group of Sorcerers to protect humanity. From that moment on, he will have an important mission to fulfill, although it could mean that he has to die to accomplish it.
19 Frieren: Beyond Journey's End
Few characters have managed to captivate viewers as much as Frieren. The elf protagonist of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End has become a magnet for selling figures, keychains, and all kinds of merchandise. Her charisma is one of the anime's strongest points, but the series also stands out for its compelling story, action, and narrative depth.
After saving the world alongside a group of heroes, time has passed, and Frieren hasn't aged like them. Her elven nature connects her to the world in a unique way, but that doesn't mean she isn't heartbroken when her friends die. To say goodbye to one of them, she embarks on a great journey to the place where souls rest. This will be just the beginning of an unforgettable adventure.
18 One Piece
Hulu isn't the best platform for watching One Piece, but it's impossible not to recommend that, if you have some free time, you can enjoy Luffy's adventures. Even with only a few seasons available, watching One Piece is always an irresistible plan.
Streaming services like Crunchyroll have more seasons, so they would be a better option if you want to watch the entire series. In any case, it's always good to see that Hulu has some episodes and that it pays tribute to the greatest of all pirates.
17 Dandadan
Dandadan is a very different anime, with aliens, ghosts, and all sorts of absurd situations where the action takes on a style opposite the norm. Its premiere had a huge impact because it was the breath of fresh air the Shonen Jump universe needed to offer a new concept of anime.
The protagonists are two students as different as they are destined to be connected. Ken is a boy who believes in aliens, and Momo is a girl who thinks the same about ghosts. One day, they decide to test their beliefs and, in doing so, open the door to a world of curses, battles, and terrifyingly funny situations. Each character will be haunted by problems they must solve with help and effort. Serious problems, like Ken losing something very precious to him: a part of his anatomy that he will want to recover at all costs.
16 Hunter x Hunter
A classic among classics, a much remembered shonen anime from 2011 that remains relevant. The popularity of Hunter x Hunter has been so high even today that a new video game was released in 2025 joining a large list of Hunter x Hunter games. This shows that it is a very relevant anime even today.
Who’s That Character?
Identify the silhouettes before time runs out.
Identify the silhouettes before time runs out.
Although Hunter x Hunter is an anime that can be easily found on other streaming services, it is also a good recommendation on Hulu. In the world of Hunter x Hunter, there are Hunters, people who stand out from the rest of the mortals and play an important role. However, becoming a Hunter is very difficult. The protagonist, Gon Freecss, wants to become a Hunter, following in his father's footsteps. As the story progresses, he will have to face numerous challenges and fight against very powerful enemies.
15 Fire Force
The prequel to Soul Eater is an anime about firefighters with powers who fight against fire monsters that are destroying the entire world. Tokyo miraculously resists. It is one of the anime with the most original and interesting story of recent years.
It stands out, first, for its apocalyptic setting. The world is burning, and even the calendar has changed to the Solar Era. Throughout the city, firefighters must face humans suffering from spontaneous combustion, but also demons. The protagonist has fire in his feet as a manifestation of his pyrokinetic abilities. And although his initial task is to protect the city, he will soon encounter greater problems.
14 Toriko
In 2008, Shonen Jump attempted to create another hero who could establish himself in the popularity range of Goku from Dragon Ball and Luffy from One Piece. His name was Toriko, and he was a great hero with enormous muscles who worked as a Gourmet Hunter.
The Toriko anime aired between 2011 and 2014 and also spawned a high number of films. Its impact wasn't comparable to that of Naruto, and the character ultimately failed to achieve his intended purpose. But Toei Animation tried, even producing crossovers where the protagonist crossed paths with Goku and Luffy. Today, it's an entertaining anime, but its premise was perhaps a bit unambitious. That doesn't stop it from being a good recommendation.
13 Dragon Ball
Hulu is a good platform for enjoying the universe created by Akira Toriyama. The service has many episodes and various series featuring Goku's adventures. We've grouped them together so that this list of recommendations doesn't have 20% Dragon Ball anime.
The Dragon Ball series you can find on Hulu are the following:
- Dragon Ball
- Dragon Ball Z
- Dragon Ball GT
- Dragon Ball Z Kai
- Dragon Ball Super
- Dragon Ball Daima
If you're going to start watching Dragon Ball for the first time, the best recommendation is Dragon Ball Z Kai. But if you want to see everything, start from the beginning. Or, if you prefer more modern animation, your ideal option would be Dragon Ball Daima.
12 Attack on Titan
Although it borders on the shonen genre, given that Attack on Titan is a seinen disguised as a shonen, we can't leave it off the list. Even with its disappointing ending, it remains one of the best anime series to have aired in recent years.
If you've never seen this anime, the beginning will shock you and give you an unprecedented thrill. The excitement gradually subsides as the story progresses until it reaches a certain stability, although that doesn't diminish its appeal. It's a very ambitious, emotional, violent, and impactful production, but remember that its level of violence is higher than what's seen in most shonen anime.
11 Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
One of the best shonen anime of all time and, possibly, one of the best anime of any genre. The first adaptation of Fullmetal Alchemist was also high quality, but this version pays the ultimate tribute to Hiromu Arakawa's original manga.
What begins with a rule-breaking attempt at alchemy aimed at resurrecting their mother leads the Elric brothers to confront a very complicated destiny. From the first episode, the story connects with the viewer, immersing them in all the hallmarks of shonen anime, but with a significant dose of maturity. It's an anime that leaves a lasting impression, one you'll love so much you'll only want to watch it once, for fear that a second viewing will ruin your memories.
