Berserk is one of the best seinen manga ever written. Unfortunately, Berserk's author, Kentaro Miura, passed away on May 6, 2021, leaving the series' future uncertain. Under the supervision of Miura's longtime friend and fellow mangaka, Kouji Mori, Berserk has managed to keep releasing new chapters in the past five years, with the manga's most recent hiatus soon to come to an end. Berserk's English language publisher, Dark Horse, never gave the post-Miura chapters the Deluxe treatment, however.
Dark Horse's Berserk Deluxe re-release is far and away the definitive way to read the manga. Unlike other 3-in-1 volumes, Berserk Deluxe features magazine-sized pages that really bring the art to life, while being leatherbound and featuring a built-in bookmark. These are high quality releases that seemingly ended their run with Volume 14, which collected the last two volumes of Berserk Miura wrote before passing away, as well as the series' official guidebook. Three years since Berserk Deluxe ended, Dark Horse finally has a positive update for fans.

Berserk remains one of the most beloved dark fantasy series of all time, and those wanting a new Guts figure on their shelf are in luck.
Berserk Deluxe Will Return Once Volume 44 Releases in Japan
In a surprise to every Berserk fan, Dark Horse has confirmed that their Berserk Deluxe manga will in fact continue, just as soon as there are enough volumes to publish a new edition. The Berserk manga has only released two volumes since Kentaro Miura's death, so there simply aren't enough chapters to make a new Deluxe volume. Previously, most fans simply assumed the Deluxe line had ended with Berserk Chapter 364, as Dark Horse's way of collecting just Miura's contributions to the series.
Berserk absolutely lost some of its spark following Miura's passing, but Kouji Mori clearly has a deep love and respect for the manga, and has done an admirable job of keeping the story going. Miura also left notes behind, so it's not as if the current team is just making things up as they go – there's a real understanding of where Berserk is going from here, and how the series will eventually end. Unfortunately, don't expect Berserk Volume 44 to come out anytime soon in Japan.
Berserk volumes are generally nine chapters long, and there is only one unreleased chapter out at the moment. Young Animal recently confirmed that there are three Berserk chapters ready to be published, but that'll still take a minimum of three months to release. There's no telling if the manga will go back on hiatus after the third new chapter, either. The best case scenario is that Young Animal keeps releasing chapters each month for the rest of the year, but even then, that still means Berserk Volume 44 won't come out until 2027 at the absolute earliest.
Berserk Volume 43 Releases in English This October
In the meantime, Dark Horse does have a new volume of Berserk set to release for English-speaking readers later this year. Berserk Volume 43 will release on October 27, 2026, collecting Chapters 374 to 382. Guts is currently at the lowest point he's been in since the Eclipse, and is now a shell of his former self. No longer the deadly swordsman fans know and love, Guts is a depressed, broken mess comparable to how Griffith was at the end of the Golden Age arc.
Berserk Volume 43 will be a dark volume filled with dense world-building, upsetting character development for Guts, and intense action that promises the story is about to kick into high gear once the new chapters release. The Eastern Exile arc feels like a major turning point for both Berserk and Guts. It truly feels like Kouji Mori is finally setting up Berserk's endgame, which can only be bad news for Guts and his party.
