Berserk fans are unfortunately no strangers to hiatuses. The Berserk manga most recently went on hiatus with the release of Chapter 382 on September 12, 2025, leaving the story off on a depressingly bleak cliffhanger. After losing Casca to Griffith on Elfhelm, Guts has officially lost all will to live, as he both metaphorically and literally sinks into a deep depression. Now a shell of his former self, Berserk is setting up its darkest era for Guts since the Eclipse.

Despite rumors of the latest chapter being canceled, the Berserk manga is officially returning this June with the series’ first new chapter of 2026. Young Animal has promised at least three new chapters set to release throughout the summer. Given how many storylines are up in the air right now, there's no telling what the new chapter will focus on. Given where Chapter 383 left off, however, it's safe to assume Berserk Chapter 384 will offer a deep dive into Guys’ psyche as he comes to terms with his latest loss.

The best way to experience the Berserk series is finally coming back – but there's a catch.

Berserk Chapter 384 Release Date Has Officially Been Revealed

Griffith and Guts in Berserk

Berserk Chapter 384 will officially release in Young Animal on June 12, 2026, exactly nine months since the release of Chapter 383. According to Young Animal, Chapter 384 will be "the first of three consecutive issues," which unfortunately means the Berserk manga will go back on hiatus on August 12, 2026. That said, three chapters are better than none at all, and hopefully it won't be long before Studio Gaga and Kouji Mori return with their next batch of chapters.

Young Animal's description for Berserk Chapter 384 reads, "What will Guts see in the darkness after being sealed in the shrine...?", giving fans hope that this current set of chapters will keep the story's focus on Guts instead of pivoting to Falconia or the current chaos in Kushan. The Eastern Exile Chapter is Berserk's darkest saga since the Conviction Arc. Guts, and the world around him, are falling apart, as it truly feels like Berserk is finally building towards its endgame.

Berserk remains one of the most beloved dark fantasy series of all time, and those wanting a new Guts figure on their shelf are in luck.

Guts is Sinking Deeper Than He Ever Has

The last time Guts was this depressed was after the Eclipse at the end of Golden Age Arc. Guts in the Black Swordsman and Conviction Arc is a broken man driven by little more than hate and contempt for the world. He still has some semblance of humanity and an inner kindness, but losing Casca and the rest of the Band of the Hawk fundamentally shattered him. The main difference between Guts at the start of the series and in the Eastern Exile Chapter, however, is the fact he still had a fire lighting him in previous arcs.

Guts is no longer driven. His motivation to keep going has been sapped away. The Moonlight Boy turning into Griffith and taking Casca away to Falconia has completely destroyed Guts. He's now failed to save Casca twice, being forced to relive his greatest tragedy in a new form. Guts' rage has disappeared and become pure sadness, literally swallowing him at the end of Chapter 383. Berserk Chapter 384 will finally offer fans a glimpse into Guts' broken mind, and hopefully give him a chance to find inner peace, reclaiming his will to live.

It's been nine months since Guts was sealed away with his depression. Guts beginning his spiritual rebirth in Chapter 384 would be perfect symbolism and exactly what Berserk fans need after the pain of the manga's most recent hiatus.
