Although fans are still saddened by the fact that The Batman II was supposed to be released this year, they can find solace in the fact that one of the franchise's most popular yet underrepresented villains could be making their appearance as the main antagonist in the upcoming sequel. The movie is still heavily shrouded in mystery, but progress and development are going at a steady rate, and it might not be too long until the marketing campaign commences. The 2022 reboot, written and directed by Matt Reeves, has suffered numerous delays due to the slow scriptwriting process, but recently, it seems the project has made great headway.
Details are scarce, but the follow-up to the incredibly popular The Batman (2022), which is described as one of the best DC movies ever, has not fallen off from discussion despite the 5-year gap between the first and second movies. With Pattinson's incredible portrayal of both the billionaire and the masked vigilante, Paul Dano's even more iconic The Riddler and the noir cinematography that captured the essence of Gotham perfectly, it is no wonder the incredible hype behind every little info dump regarding the second, and it seems the latest sneak peek has fans ablaze.
'I Am Absolutely Certain’ Andy Serkis Drops Major The Batman 2 Script Update After James Gunn Anger
Andy Serkis has given fans a major update regarding the script for The Batman Part II and how it is progressing.
The Batman II Will Be Set In Winter
On his X (formerly Twitter) account, Matt Reeves revealed that testing for the movie had begun, with the tag #SnowTires attached to the post. He later interacted with many fan replies, and he even confirmed that Batman would be facing battle in the snow after quoting a fan. In a 2022 Collider interview, Reeves was excited about the possibility of introducing the character in a sequel film, and with the recent announcement that the movie will be set in the winter, it follows logic that Victor Fries will make an appearance.
It was the most he had posted on the app, which revitalized the entire fandom after months of no news. The script was completed in June 2025, and James Gunn, Colin Farrell and Andy Serkis praised the finished product. As of now, the movie is still in the very early stages of filming, as indicated by the camera testing, but all the pieces have finally been gathered to ensure another delay will not happen. Furthermore, Sebastian Stan discussed his role as Harvey Dent and how ambitious this movie truly is.
There Are More Villains To Choose From
While Mr. Freeze is a very likely pick for the villain role, an earlier interview by Reeves revealed the movie's new villain would be one that is yet to appear in other films, which makes Mr Freeze's standing shaky. However, other amazing antagonists such as Hugo Strange,
