Last Updated on April 25, 2026, by Mark Sammut: Added 3 more class BG3 mods: Ancient Saiyan Warrior, Way of Mercy, and Arcane Archer.
Ever since leaving early access in 2023, Baldur's Gate 3 has continued to be one of the most popular RPGs on the market. Consequently, and unsurprisingly, its enduring legacy has ensured the rise of a dedicated modding community, one that is forever producing new content that helps add more depth to a game that is already as vast as an ocean. BG3 new class mods are arguably the most popular, as they tap directly into the Dungeons & Dragons side of things. Larian emphasized player choice when crafting its masterpiece, but there are only so many classes and subclasses that could be added to the core content. Mods exist to fill up any missing spaces.
Baldur's Gate 3: Every Class, Ranked
Classic D&D classes form the backbone of classes in Baldur's Gate 3. Here's how they stack up against each other.
If you have ever found yourself playing Baldur's Gate 3 and wishing that you could tweak one of the subclasses or port over a class from your D&D game, there is a decent chance that a mod already exists that offers something similar. There are roughly a billion relevant mods out there, so let's highlight a few of the best.
21 Hexblade Class
Adds a New Curse-Focused Warlock Subclass

The Hexblade subclass leans into the aspect of a Warlock cursing their enemies with stacking debuffs to make them vulnerable to follow-up damage. The mod adds new spells that can be selected during level-ups, a way to deal extra damage to marked enemies, and a way to revive the specter of a recently killed character to fight for them.
On top of that, players can also choose to get the optional Invocation add-on to give their Hexblade Warlock access to alternative invocations. There are 11 new invocations to choose from, with effects ranging from animating undead without using a spell slot, to increasing the range of Eldritch Blast by 2.5x, to creating a domain of death and decay around the caster, and much more.
Mod's original version is not compatible with Patch 7, but a fork that works with the latest version of BG3 has been made here.
20 Sword Dancers of Eilistraee
A New BG3 Class That Is All About Blending Performance With Combat

One of the more eye-catching BG3 class mods, Sword Dancers of Eilistraee blends spellcasting, melee combat, and dance to create a symphony of death. The concept is really strong, and the three Domains/Subclasses are pretty interesting. The Silver Bladedancer is probably the most unique, as it is a dual-wielding class that is about causing damage at volume and using workarounds to get past a penalty to damage that triggers the longer you bladedance. From what I've tested, this class comes with a pretty steep learning curve, but it is such a cool idea for a mod.
Sword Dancer and Darksong Knight are also good subclasses in their own right, although they aren't quite as unique as their final counterpart. The former is close in build to Bards, but it unlocks powerful domain spells later on in its progression. Darksong is a blend of Paladin and Bard, being proficient in charisma and spellcasting. Unlike most Paladins, this subclass is limited to light/medium armor and single-hand weapons.
19 Monk Subclasses: Way of Mercy & Way of No Mercy
Brings Over A DND Subclass That Didn't Make The Cut (And Then Gives It A Power Boost)
- Way of Mercy Mod Link & Way of No Mercy Mod Link
- Author: PlatypusVenom
While Baldur's Gate 3 has a very respectable array of classes and subclasses, the game naturally couldn't bring over every single D&D build option, as that would just lead to a mess. However, the modding community can be relied upon to fix any gaps, and PlatypusVenom covers the Way of Mercy subclass. In D&D, this class manipulates people's life force to bring aid to those who need it, essentially acting as a magical doctor and a physician. This mod does a great job of translating this subclass to BG3, delivering all the staples like Hands of Healing, Physician's Touch, and Hand of Ultimate Mercy.
Great as this mod is, one potential criticism is that the subclass feels a bit weak compared to other types of Monks, which can discourage players from sticking to Way of Mercy for longer than a few hours. That is where Way of No Mercy comes in, which provides a much-needed power upgrade to make this subclass a touch more feasible in BG3.
18 Necromancer Warlock - The Dread Overlord
Offers a Unique Twist on the Necromancer Archetype
- Mod Link

Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t explore the raising undead aspect of D&D lore beyond giving players ways to speak with the dead and some basic necromancy spells. The Necromancer Warlock mod fixes that problem by giving Warlocks a brand-new subclass: the Dread Overlord.
The Dread Overlord’s kit revolves around raising armies of corpses, gaining power from the deceased, and creating Greater Undead, a variant not offered in the base game. The great thing about this mod is that it integrates extremely well within the existing storyline of BG3 through Profane Blessings. Profane Blessings are story-related, permanent buffs that only unlock after The Dread Overlord reaches certain milestones in the campaign.
17 Unearthed Arcana
Grants Access to New Class Features

Unearthed Arcana is playtest material for Wizards testing tweaks to features, classes, spells, and races. It tries to offer more balance and new, exciting gameplay, and now, BG3 players can experience some Unearthed Arcana material for themselves.
5 Baldur’s Gate 3 Spells Players Trust Too Much That Backfire Horribly In Dungeons & Dragons
Baldur's Gate 3 spells can backfire in tabletop D&D, with unexpected consequences for players who are only used to Larian's interpretation.
By installing the Unearthed Arcana mod, players can access Unearthed Arcana for all vanilla classes for new and fun gameplay, including all magic casters becoming capable of learning spells stored on scrolls. There is an impressive amount of depth and effort put into creating this mod, and it can be a refreshing breath of fresh air for players who feel like they have already experienced everything Baldur's Gate 3 has to offer.
16 Ancient Saiyan Warrior
Of course, Baldur's Gate 3 Has A DBZ Mod

Oh yeah, this is why I love the modding community. How else would we ever get a crossover between Baldur's Gate and Dragon Ball? Now, I will say that this mod works and is awesome, but it was meant to get more updates that add things like hair changes. Unfortunately, that didn't seem to happen, so it is slightly incomplete. However, the mod is still fantastic and runs well, and the creators put in a ton of work to not only add Saiyans as a proper class but also inject the race into the lore in a way that makes sense. That effort will always be appreciated.
As you level up your Saiyan warrior, they will gradually learn the "spells" and transformations associated with DBZ. Besides new forms, there are spells like the Kamehameha, Kaioken, Final Flash, and Spirit Bomb. You won't quite be able to look like Goku, but you can at least role-play as him or Vegeta.
15 Magus Class
Grants Access to a New Class from a Different System

The biggest TTRPG competitor to D&D is Pathfinder, a fantasy role-playing game with a different world, lore, classes, and significantly higher numbers to make gameplay more crunchy. D&D fans have likely at least heard of, or even tried, this system for themselves.
Fans of Pathfinder who are delving into BG3 might be excited to hear that many members of the modding community are also fans of both systems. The Magus Class mod adds this Pathfinder class to the list of those available to the player in BG3. Players can wield arcane forces and weapons, making it a fun and versatile class mod that even non-Pathfinder fans should try.
14 Harlequin Class
Unlocks a Fun and Unique Homebrew Class
- Mod Link
- Author: Harlequinz Eg0
For Additional Mods, Visit: GGMods.com
There are mods to expand on existing classes or add new ones that were missing, and then there is the Harlequin mod, which is a homebrew class that adds something completely new and refreshing for players to experience.
Straddling the line between bard and rogue, the Harlequin class seeks to beguile and deceive their foes and usually sow chaos wherever they travel, coming complete with 3 different subclasses that the players can choose from.
13 Diemnocturnum Class
A Unique Mod That Features a New Game Mechanic
- Mod Link
- Author: Xonnel Devlin

Light and dark magic are common magical systems in works of fantasy. Even D&D has spells surrounding these two forces, giving players the ability to magically summon light or dark without much thought given to the in-between.
6 Baldur’s Gate 3 Mechanics Players Constantly Misinterpret When Switching To Dungeons & Dragons
Baldur's Gate 3 is based on Dungeons & Dragons, but that does not mean every mechanic is 100% identical.
The Diemnocturnum Class mod is here to fill in this blank space, as it focuses on twilight rather than the two opposing forces. The mod includes unique spells, three disparate subclasses with their own focus on magic, and starter equipment. It even offers an original new game mechanic to make this class mod truly feel unique and stand out as someone's creative invention.
12 5e Arcane Archer - Fighter Subclass
Become The Ultimate Warrior
- Mod Link
- Author: Sumradagnoth and ShivasShadow (Original Mod)
For Additional Mods, Visit: GGMods.com
Based on the Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Arcane Archers are meant to be elite warriors among the elves, helping to protect their regions from unwanted visitors. This mod makes this subclass available for Fighters, and its goal is to be as accurate to the source as possible.
Once at level 3, your character can learn magical theory and specialize in the Arcana, if they so choose. They will then unlock Arcane Shot and, at level 7, Magic Arrow and Curving Shot. Those are just the tip of the iceberg, and this mod comes with plenty of new abilities that will become available as you gradually level up.
