Baldur's Gate 3 is a role-playing game that combines the explorative nature of Dungeons & Dragons with turn-based strategic combat popular in the CRPG genre. Like most RPGs, the fantasy world of the Sword Coast has a variety of classes for players to try, with their specific weapons in which to specialize.
Baldur's Gate 3: 10 Ways To Shake Up A New Playthrough
With several ways to play Baldur's Gate 3, what’s the best way for players to keep each new playthrough fresh?
New weapons can be found while exploring, in chests or other stashes of loot, as rewards for quests, or drops from enemies. However, with so many interesting choices of weapons, such as blades and axes, it's difficult to decide what is truly the best weapon to equip on either custom or Origin characters.
Updated March 3, 2026, by Anastasia Maillot: With Larian Studios moving on to greener pastures to deliver us another Divinity game that looks deliciously brutal, now is a great time to dive back into Baldur's Gate 3—or dive in for the first time if you've yet to play it. This list of melee weapons has been updated with three new endgame weapons that are great picks for anyone looking to have an easier time in Honour Mode, in particular. Moreover, the ranking has been shuffled around a bit, with truly powerful items found at the very end.
32 Nature's Snare
Found Inside A Locked Chest In The Underground Passage
- Stat: 1d8 (two-handed), 1d6 (one-handed), the Fly Trap ability
Although this quarterstaff doesn't inflict much damage, as it hits foes for a lackluster 1d8's worth, its main strengths come from its weapon skills. Characters proficient in two-handed melee weapons will have the chance to cast Fly Trap when successfully hitting an enemy.
Fly Trap will ensnare an enemy right in its tracks as long as it isn't a plant or a beast. This will stop the foe from attacking allies if they are at a distance, and then they must therefore attempt to break free before they can move again.
31 Pale Oak
The Protagonist Must Be a Druid And Spare Kagha's Life
- Stats: 1d8 (two-handed), 1d6 (one-handed), the abilities of Faithwarden's Vines and Faithwarden's Stride
Pale Oak is another Quarterstaff that may at first appear average, but it actually has two incredible abilities a Druid may be tempted to use. The first is Faithwarden's Vines, which makes the terrain difficult to traverse, with it also possibly ensnaring enemies, and the next is Faithwarden's Stride, which makes the player no longer affected by ensnare effects from Druids.
Baldur's Gate 3: Best One-Handed Weapons
If players want a better chance at fighting off the hordes of the Absolute in Baldur's Gate 3, then seek out these one-handed weapons.
Unlike other weapons mentioned, Pale Oak can only be obtained by a player who has created a Druid. This is because the player needs to be able to become the Faithwarden, so they can help Kagha. While players may have already taken a dislike to Kagha when first meeting her, they must investigate this Druid, persuade her, and then spare her life to get the Pale Oak.
30 Sickle Of BOOOAL
Purchased Or Looted From Pooldripp The Zealous
- Stats: 2d4, the BOOOAL's Benediction ability
Although this usual farming tool may look quite unassuming, the
Sickle Of Boooalwhich is a weapon that some players may take an interest in. Many of its stats are incredibly average; however, it also comes with the buff of Boooal's Benediction, which gives the player an advantage when attacking bleeding targets.
Although players have the chance of defeating Boooal, who is a horrid little Redcap, players can find the Sickle of Boooal by defeating Pooldripp the Zealous. He can be found in the Festering Cove in The Underdark as the leader of this strange, murderous cult.
29 Sussur Dagger
Finish the Masterwork Weapon Quest
-
Stat: 1d4 + 1, can
Silence
the targets
As one of the best daggers in the game, the
Sussur Dagger deserves a mention. It may only deal 1d4 of piercing damage plus one due to its weapon enchantment, but its weapon skill silences enemies, which is something for players to consider.
Similar to the Silence spell, an enemy struck by this weapon will be unable to cast spells that have a verbal element. That makes it a great weapon to use against Wizards, Warlocks, Sorcerers, or other casting classes.
28 Sussur Greatsword
Finish The Masterwork Quest
- Stats: 2d6 + 1, Silences foes on hit
Like the Sussur dagger, the
Sussur Greatsword does everything the dagger does but better, as it can hit an enemy for 2d6 slashing damage with an additional plus one due to its weapon enchantment. As long as the user is proficient in martial weapons.
Once again, the weapon skill on this blade can silence an enemy, which means they are unable to cast spells that have verbal elements to them. This is a weapon to bring out when facing spell casters primarily.
27 Clown Hammer
Looted From Dribbles The Clown In The Circus Of Last Days
- Stats: One-handed damage, 1d8 + 2 (3~10), Two-handed damage, 1d10 + 2 (3~12), the Grim Irony ability
It's a fun twist on the usual Warhammer design, and the only drawback is that it's not available until Act 3. When the adventuring party arrives in Rivington, they'll come across the Circus of Last Days, where they can gather around and watch a show featuring Dribbles the Clown.
However, this isn't exactly Dribbles. It's a doppelganger, and it might not be the first one the party has encountered in Act 3. Once players defeat them, they drop this hammer, and everyone's favorite quest can begin, "Dribbles the Clown."
26 Sorrow
Inside The Hidden Vault In The Druid Grove
- Stats: 1d10 + 1, the ability Sorrowful Lash (Thorn Whip)
Although a glaive is like a double-edged sword, its power comes with consequences. The base hit of Sorrow is a decent 1d10+1 of slashing damage that is sure to knock the wind from any foe it lands on. Sorrow is also granted the skill of
Ensnaring Strike, which means any enemy it hits has the chance to be stuck in place.
Baldur's Gate 3: Best Races Mods, Ranked
Baldur's Gate 3 launched some nice race options, but these mods greatly expand the available races to choose from when creating your perfect Tav.
However, this is where the issue starts; the user of Sorrow feels guilty after every hit, causing them to take one point of psychic damage. In smaller battles, this may not be an issue. However, the longer the fight, the more noticeable this damage will appear.
25 Light Of Creation
Dropped by Bernard In The Arcane Tower
- Stats: 1d10 + 1 (+ 1d6 lightning damage)
Although a simple halberd, the
Light of Creation is one of BG3's best weapons for those who are still in the first act. It doesn't come with any impressive features other than allowing the player to hit a foe for an additional 1d6 of lightning damage. However, anyone who isn't a construct might find themselves stunned when hit by this weapon.
Players may find it difficult to get their hands on this halberd due to having to kill Bernard the construct in the first act of Baldur's Gate 3. If given the right answers, Bernard will leave the player be, though the only way to gain that halberd is to kill him.
24 Deep Delver
Looted From Elder Brithvar In The Grymforge
- Stat: 1d8, the Deep Delver and Dig Deep abilities
As a war pick, this weapon already has a brutal point to it. The
Deep Delver inflicts 1d8 of piercing damage. Proficiencies in this weapon can also increase the brutality of the player's hits, as they cripple and weaken foes.
Baldur's Gate 3: The Best Two-Handed Weapons
For a heavier offense, here's which two-handed weapons are the strongest in Baldur's Gate 3.
Unlike other war picks, this ancestral weapon holds a skill called Dig Deep that has the power to inflict Shattered on a hit. This status effect means that when the enemy is hit again, a player can cause an additional 1d4 piercing damage.
23 Stillmaker
Found Inside The Cave Mouth Beneath Wyrm's Crossing
-
Stats: 1d4 + 2,
Hold Person
Rogues don't have to use daggers, but there are plenty of impressive options, with some of the best weapons in BG3 being the Stillmaker. As the name of this dagger suggests, players who use this dagger can make their target completely still, as each hit has the chance to Hold Person.
Baldur's Gate 3: 18 Best Feats For Rogues, Ranked
Rogues get two extra feats compared to most classes in Baldur's Gate 3, and picking the right ones can result in an exceptionally powerful character.
Once paralyzed, the target is open to every hit being a critical one, which is especially useful when dual-wielding this dagger. With another great melee weapon, it will be sure to increase the overall damage to the target, killing them quickly.
