About William Parks
William Parks is a Game Rant editor who specializes in puzzle games, indie releases, Nintendo titles, and completion-focused guide coverage. Since joining Game Rant in 2019, he has written and edited thousands of guides, with much of his work centered on helping players solve specific problems, track down hidden items, and make sense of tricky progression systems.
Before writing about games full time, William worked in arts administration after graduating from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. In that role, he collaborated with curators, artists, and institutions on contemporary exhibitions, an experience that helped shape his careful, research-driven approach to guides. His writing is built around clear structure, close observation, and making complicated objectives easier to follow.
William is especially drawn to games that reward curiosity and experimentation. He approaches guide writing from the perspective of a completionist, with an emphasis on practical advice that gets players where they need to go without wasting their time.
Favorite Games
William’s favorite games include Inscryption, Outer Wilds, Return of the Obra Dinn, The Witness, and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. He tends to gravitate toward games with clever systems, environmental storytelling, and mysteries.
He also has a lasting fondness for Asheron’s Call 2 and Star Wars Galaxies, both of which played a formative role in developing his long-term interest in video games.
Industry Focus
William’s guide work is focused on games where clarity and precision matter most. He often covers puzzle solutions, collectible locations, unlock requirements, side objectives, and other content that can easily be missed or stop players in their tracks.
While his coverage spans many genres, he is most interested in indie games, Nintendo releases, cozy and puzzle-focused titles, and games with unusual structures or mechanics. He is particularly interested in guides that are useful at launch but remain valuable long after release.
Proudest Gaming Achievement
William’s proudest gaming achievement is unlocking the Jedi profession in Star Wars Galaxies before the game’s 2011 shutdown.
