The wave of popularity for gacha RPGs following Genshin Impact's launch saw developer Hotta Studio throw its hat into the ring. 2022 saw Hotta Studio launch its debut game with Tower of Fantasy, coming as an open-world RPG looking to be a competitor to Genshin Impact with similar gameplay. Hotta Studio also shared more details about its direction regarding Neverness to Everness' story, saying that it aims for a more "lighthearted" story than many other popular gacha games.
