Crimson Desert: All Spear Challenges

In Crimson Desert, there are 5 Spear Challenges that can be triggered by collecting the respective Sealed Abyss Artifacts from the overworld. Spear challenges require players to use Kliff’s Spear weapon to complete combat-related tasks.

This guide covers the locations of all Sealed Abyss Artifacts for every Spear Challenge (called Sharpened Spear challenges), how players can complete those challenges, as well as what rewards they’ll get when they do.

Sharpened Spear 1

Sharpened Spear 1 Artifact Location

Found on a pile of rocks by the side of the road, northwest of Haunted Hill, directly north of the “A” of Hernand on the map, near the Sanctum of Atonement.

How to Complete Sharpened Spear 1 Challenge

• Challenge: Land 15 counterattacks with a spear within 30 seconds.

“Counterattacks” refer to parries and counters (Keen Senses skill) or counterattacks from the Counter Stance (upgrade Armed Combat to Lv. 2 to unlock).

Counter Stance is exclusively a Spear skill; you won’t be able to use it with other weapons.

The easiest way to complete this challenge is to find a large group of enemies, wield a spear, wait for an incoming attack, and enter Counter Stance just before the attack is about to land. This will trigger a wide area counterattack, landing a hit on all enemies in your vicinity. The larger the group, the more they will attack you in succession, and the more opportunities you will get to land counterattacks.

This challenge is actually easier to complete at higher difficulties because when enemy AI is more aggressive, you get more opportunities to parry or counterattack in a shorter period of time.

Sharpened Spear 2

Sharpened Spear 2 Artifact Location

Found in the Nas River Shrine, located just east of Hernand City, on the small island right next to the Back Alley Shop (where you can buy a Mask).

How to Complete Sharpened Spear 2 Challenge

• Challenge: Hit enemies 30 times with a spear within 30 seconds.

Spam the spear's basic attack to land hits in quick succession on any enemy to quickly fill up the counter. The main difficulty of this challenge is finding a group large enough that you don’t run out of enemies before the timer is up. Because of this, occupied territories filled with enemies are the best places to complete this challenge.

Found by the side of the road just west of the Hook Rapids, north of Hernand City.

How to Complete Sharpened Spear 3 Challenge

• Challenge: Defeat 5 enemies within 15 seconds using Stab.

The Stab ability is performed using LShift + RMB (PC) or [R1] + [Triangle]. Only the final attack needs to be the Stab attack for it to count for this challenge.

If you’re having trouble with the timing, lower the difficulty. This will make enemies squishier, which makes it easier to land finishing blows.

Sharpened Spear 4 Artifact Location

Found just west of the Flame Knight Castle, northwest of Demeniss, in the Azerian Estate.

How to Complete Sharpened Spear 4 Challenge

• Challenge: Defeat 3 enemies with a spear within 1 minute using only leap attacks.

Leap attacks are attacks you perform while in mid-air. Like the previous challenge, you only need to worry about making sure that the final killing blow is a leap attack; the nature of the preceding attacks doesn’t matter.

Sharpened Spear 5

Sharpened Spear 5 Artifact Location

Found right next to Bradenfern Farm, between the Hills of No Return and Drakesfall Gorge, northeast of Hernand.

How to Complete Sharpened Spear 5 Challenge

• Challenge: Defeat 5 enemies with a spear without taking damage while maintaining 100% Health.

Use Blinding Flash Finisher (if you have it unlocked) as an opener to quickly take out 2-3 enemies, and then follow it up by defeating two more enemies without taking damage to complete the challenge. If you take damage and your health falls below 100%, the challenge will reset.

There is no time limit to this challenge, which means you can take it slow and steady.
