One of the very first issues you will face in Subnautica 2 is “Oxygen Production Offline” when you first set up your base. Oxygen production in your base is only active if the base has power. If the base has no power source, or if the energy-consuming base modules placed in the base exceed the maximum power output of the base, the base will lose power entirely, and oxygen production will go offline.
To bring back oxygen, you need to build and maintain a power source for your base, providing it with energy to function, including creating a breathable atmosphere. Fortunately, there is an easy way to get base power early in Subnautica 2.
Subnautica 2: How to Get a Repair Tool
Repair Tool is beneficial for maintaining your base and exploring wrecked bases, but it requires some advanced materials, which we've got right here.
How to Add Power to Your Base in Subnautica 2

Solar Panel |
The Solar Panel is a base power module you can place on the roof of your base using the Habitat Builder. It is unlocked by default, which means it will be available to you as soon as you acquire the Habitat Builder, under Exterior Facilities - Power.
Each individual Solar Panel will provide 1-8 Energy/sec to your base, depending on the time of day. When the sun is up, the Solar Panel will provide a maximum of 8 Energy/sec. However, when the sun goes down and night falls, the energy production goes down to a minimum of 1 Energy/sec. If your base is near the surface, the Solar Panels will maintain a minimum of 2 Energy/sec even at night.
This means that even in the dead of night, the Solar Panel gives your base 1 Energy/sec. Since there is no limit to the number of Solar Panels you can place on your base except for empty space on the roof, there is nothing preventing you from placing enough Solar Panels to fully power your base even during the night.
This, however, is not remotely optimal. Solar Panels are meant for the super early game only because they’re not a reliable power source. To get consistent power, you’ll need to move on to better power sources.

Hydroelectric Turbine |

Both Hydroelectric Turbine Fragments can be found in the vicinity of the same water current “tunnel.” From Camp One, turn east and swim forward 100m. Look down and you’ll see a massive water current hugging the seafloor. Follow the length of this current, and you’ll find both Hydroelectric Turbine fragments.
- Hydroelectric Turbine Fragment #1 Location: 364m S-SW of Lifepod, near the water current behind Camp One.
- Hydroelectric Turbine Fragment #2 Location: 390m S-SW of Lifepod, on a metal platform near the water current tunnel behind Camp One.
The Hydroelectric Turbine works by placing it inside an active, natural water current and connecting it to your base via a Power Transmitter. Coincidentally, you’ll find a Power Transmitter Fragmment right next to one of the Hydroelectric Turbine Fragments (#2).
The best part about the Hydroelectric Turbines is that there is no limit to how many you can place. Any water current is essentially a source of infinite base power, as long as you have the Titanium, Copper, and Silver to craft more Turbines.
Even better, multiple Hydroelectric Turbines can share the same Power Transmitters, meaning you only need to connect a water current to your base once.
Other than the Solar Panel and the Hydroelectric Turbines, the Bioreactor and Thermal Plants can also serve as power sources. You’ll unlock them as you progress through the game.
