IO Interactive has shared an official roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for 007: First Light, teasing new missions, features, and more. The developer has already hinted at a new DLC mission coming for 007: First Light, among multiple quality-of-life upgrades.
The newest James Bond adventure from IO Interactive has already given fans plenty to latch onto early. First Light combines the classic stealth action elements of IO Interactive's Hitman series with staples of the James Bond franchise, giving players a wealth of unique gadgets to outwit their adversaries. 007: First Light has also been a clear hit with fans, selling 2.7 million units worldwide during its launch week. The wealth of new content coming to 007: First Light should help to maintain its strong early momentum. The story of 007: First Light has been among the biggest points of praise from many fans, both for the strong performance from Patrick Gibson's portrayal of James Bond and its classic Bond styling. The new DLC mission looks to expand on the young Bond's journey to 00 status even further, forcing him to cooperate with one of the main antagonists of the main story. IO Interactive did not fully confirm how New Game+ will function in 007: First Light.
007: First Light marks the long-awaited return of James Bond to video games after more than a decade away from the medium. The James Bond franchise had not seen a new AAA release since 2012 with the launch of 007 Legends, though the series did get a pair of mobile games during the hiatus. The game also features a fully original story not directly based on any of the prior James Bond films or novels, with new versions of classic characters like M, Moneypenny, and Q playing major supporting roles.
The early popularity of 007: First Light should inspire plenty of optimism for fans of the game. The Year One roadmap likely implies that IO Interactive is likely planning more content for 007: First Light beyond its launch year. IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak has also confirmed that the studio is interested in a greater future for the game, suggesting that 007: First Light could receive a sequel if the game performs well enough. 007: First Light's strong launch should make James Bond fans happy, both with its critically-acclaimed launch content and the multitude of updates to come.
